5 Parts Workshop Series:
Inner Unit and The Integrated Myofascial Sling System

with Kelly McKinnon

Part 1: Explorations into the Inner Unit

Explore and reconnect to the power of the force from within. We all know the "Powerhouse" and the "Core" and other names which are meant to draw force from the inside to the outside and create stabilization, but are we really plugged into this source and is it working effectively through our cueing and maintained in exercise execution. Look at the Pillar strength of the "inner unit" and the muscular and fascial connective tissue integration. Explore exercises and ideas of how to tap into the inner unit strength and use it effectively in your teaching and personal application.

Heure: 14.00-17.30

Part 2: Deep Posterior Longitudinal Sling System

The magic of working in "mind-body movement systems" is to focus on the whole system and as will be demonstrated in this workshop the concept of integral and integrated anatomy. We will look at exercises and forms from a few movement systems, and attempt to deconstruct with the intention to understand what we are doing for our clients with the program choices we make for them. As part 1 of the series, the deep posterior sling is a perfect departure point as it is functional to very basic active daily living.

DANCE THE MOMENT

with GYROTONIC® & Dance Teacher Anouk Froidevaux

This workshop is open to anyone who wants to explore creative movement and dance in a fun and safe environment, carefully guided by Anouk Froidevaux.
The workshop is designed to connect us more deeply with the present moment through movement. Dance and instant composition help us relate to others and the space around us. We are then able to consciously respond to situations rather than impulsively react to them. Dancing with awareness helps us access a deeper level of our creativity, get us out of our comfort zone, experiment with different dynamics and build more trust within ourselves. Accessing our creativity helps us achieve more vitality, strength and resilience. It opens us up, allowing us to play more, which is essential for critical thinking and problem solving as well as for feeling more inspired in our daily lives!

  • Reconnects us with the joy of creativity.
  • Increases our awareness and vitality.

Workshop Pilates Ball

with Kelly McKinnon

The workshop welcomes healthy students and teachers with a good knowledge of Pilates Mat
Educational outcome:

  • Increase movement repertoire using the ball and elastic accessories with correct positioning and safety.
  • Challenge all 64 muscles acting on the pelvis;
  • Kick into gear rotational muscles of the back, legs, abdominals and challenge upper body strength.
  • Learn your personal strengths and weaknesses.

Description:
The workshop will use a combination of Balls (large, small and trigger) and Elastics (closed loop and open)
The elastics provide resistance to work against and yet are flexible enough to offer proprioceptive feedback. Both balls and elastics will be used to challenge the Pilates syllabus by bringing variation and to challenge one's relationship to gravity and space. The size and mobility of the balls enable the body to lift and move to positions usually unavailable. As moving surfaces, the balls also challenge surface stability and require postural and local muscles to work more proprioceptive.
In addition to the exercise balls, small trigger balls will be used to release tension and trigger points of congestion in the soft tissues.
By the end of the workshop you will feel strong and balanced and have an array of new ideas for home and studio workouts.

Whole Motion

with Charlotte Goddard

What is it? This method (based on F. MEZIERES method) focuses on the muscular compensations that occur naturally. Its aim is to improve your body balance through a combination of breathing technics and specific exercises, both harmonious and gentle.

Why use the Whole Motion Method? Initially developed in Spain, this method takes into account the muscular chain as a whole. For example, a simple head movement can have repercussions all the way to your toes. In other words, moving your head will affect muscles in your entire body, thus influencing your overall body balance. This method also takes into consideration the close relationship between body and mind.

What are the advantages? Muscle pain relief, tension release (both muscular and emotional), improvement of posture, reduction of body imbalances such as scoliosis and swayback (lordosis), a better sense of your own body.

For whom? Anyone desiring to regain wellness within a harmonious, balanced and pain-free body.
